Warm Kitchens

Kitchen temperatures change with the weather and if you heat or cool your home. You may use the moderate recipe only, but more likely, you will use all three at different times. If you don’t know what temperature your kitchen is read our post How to tell what temperature my kitchen is and… we have some hints below. Otherwise, your sourdough will tell you. It will tell you a lot faster in a warm environment. You don’t want it to be too late! Be the boss of your sourdough the easy way! Follow the below timings and you will be fine. 😊

What is a warm kitchen?

Warm kitchens are summer orientated, reaching temperatures of 24°C (75°F) or above inside. Sourdough activates a lot faster in warm environments.


Your kitchen is warm when it’s frequently 24°C (75°F) or more.

You’re wearing a T-shirt and you’re feeling a bit hot.

If you cool your house part of the time, your kitchen may be warm or moderate. If you’re not sure keep an eye on your sourdough. There is troubleshooting built into each recipe to help you.
